Copenhell – the biggest Metal Festival in Denmark – is now well over. The last long haired heads has been shook, the last maniac mosh pit has been made and the last throat breaking, growling sing a long shout out loud song has been sung.

Mikkeller was of course represented to this festival due to our (friends) eager love of death metal, but this time it wasn’t with beer, but with our newly Moonshine liquor made specially for Copenhell. When walking around the festival looking at the crowd, photographer Morten Skovgaard saw former lead singer of Pantera (now lead singer in “Down”) “Phil Anselmo” standing backstage after the concert recovering from injuries due to smashing the microphone too hard in his own head (see the blood in the forehead on the photo) with nothing less than the Mikkeller Spirits : Copenhell – Bark at the Moonshine.

New tasting in the Mikkeller & Friends Bottle Shop.

Tobias from To Øl will present a line up of their crazy good beers and give an insight to the thoughts behind them.

Tasting will be at The Mikkeller & Friends Bottle Shop on Sunday the 7th of July at 15.00H. A total of 8 beers and 2 hours entertainment is 300DKK.

This Sunday (9th) Mikkeller and To Øl will invade the Botanical Garden of Copenhagen at its annual Botanical Garden Day where the garden opens up for all its small secrets and mysterious plants and invites special gardeners, workshops and people using plants, flowers or anything botanical in a special context to come celebrate the diversity and beauty of botany.

We have been invited to present a wide variety of beers that has been made in a botanical context – with flowers, fruits and of course hoooooooooops! We will showcase how different fruit in beers can be used ranging from our “Orange Yuzo, Glad I Said Porter”, where the special japanese citrus fruit “Yuzo” has been added in a dark porter to add a citrussy balance a normally very chocolaty beer; our “Texas Ranger” where the smoked Chipotle Chilies has been added to a stout to give it a spicy and smoked notes and our Women’s 10K, where elderberries and elderflowers adds floral notes to a low alcohol beer.

We will present our “Nørrebro Spontanale” – our house beer at the Mikkeller & Friends bar in Nørrebro that has been fermented with the wild yeasts that lives in the air we brief and derives from all the botanical live, that sorrounds us. We will present the “To Øl Blossom”, that has been made with a variety of flowers that supplement a lot of the hop aromas in this American style wheat ale.

And then we will be pouring 3 of our single hop IPAs – the Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe and Citra. The single hop project was originally made to show people how different hops can be. Therefore 10 different beers was produced exactly the same way – same recipe, brewing facility, time of year, ingredients etc. The only thing differed was the type of hop used in the actual beer. The differences in the aromas of hops are astonishing and can relate to the differences of the different grapes of wine.

All these beers will be presented at the North Western part of the Botanical Garden (at “Staudekvarteret”) from 11:00-17:00 Sunday.  So be there or be █

We want to do regular monthly tastings in connection to the Mikkeller & Friends bottle shop. Tastings will be themed and feature beers that we carry in the shop so that you guys can carry home the message of high quality craft beer and share it with your besties.

First tasting will be sunday the 2nd of June at 15.00. And it’ll feature farmhouse styled beer, a genre thats hard to put into words but easy to drink.

Today we celebrate Keith Shore and his amazing art work down at our bottle shop at Mikkeller & Friends Stefansgade 35, kld, 2200 Copenhagen N.

Come down there, grab a beer and meet the crazy artist from 6:00 pm and onwards!

After souring up all your stomachs at Mikkeller & Friends’ Sour Event yesterday we now want to go regional on you!

Oh yes – we have been so lucky to get our hands on a rare list of beers – the best of the best craft brewers from Chicago (those who couldn’t make it at CBC) teamed up and gathered a pallet of beers just for our humble bar.

Let’s get this straight. We are overwhelmed and happy for this. So overwhelmed that we want to share this with you and instead of just putting one beer on at a time we want to give you the fuuulllllllll monty!

It is the week of Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013 and beer geeks are gathering from all over the world in Copenhagen to celebrate extreme beer culture.

We at Mikkeller salute the Celebration. We salute all the brewers attending, but we specially salute all the beer freaks from all over the world who are in town, so we have decided to put up some beautiful events during this week so people can get ready for the celebration and cool down afterwards.

The following will be the events we will do the next Couple of days:

Tuesday 30th April:
Sour day at Mikkeller & Friends – Stefansgade 35, kld, 2200 Copenhagen N from 4:00 PM.
At 4:00 PM we will harden your stomach with a sour show containing none less than 20 sour beers on tap! Beers from following breweries will flow:
Boon, Cantillon, Girardin, Mikkeller, Rodenbach & To Øl.

Chicago Craft Beer event at Mikkeller Bar – Viktoriagade 8B-C, kld, 1655 Copenhagen V from 2:00 PM
We celebrate 1st May by getting beers from some hard working brewers all the way from chicago and putting them on at the same time at the bar. All 20 taps will have beer pouring from following breweries, so bring your inner Al Capone:

We celebrate one of the most innovative, creative and crazy label designers to make an art show with tons of original drawings, paintings and new wood cuts for the Mikkeller & Friends. It is Keith Shore, who will rule this night, so come down for a beer and we will provide som eye candy for you!

Friday 3rd & Saturday 4th:
These are the days Copenhagen Beer Celebration is rolling where 30 different breweries will serve 270 different beers at Spartas Løbehal in Copenhagen Ø – if you don’t know follow this link. If you do know then you probably also want to know that our bottleshop at Mikkeller & Friends is opening extra early (Fri: from 10 am., Sat: from 9:30 am., Sun: from 10 am) so all you beer geeks can get your early birds. Friday all bars opens 2:00 pm. and closes 2:00 am.

Sunday 5th April:
3 years Birthday of Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade!!! At Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade 8BC 1655 Copenhagen V from 12:00 am.
You heard it – the first Mikkeller Bar will be 3 years old on Sunday 5th and we are going to celebrate by throwing a big street party outside the bar at Viktoriagade. Bands will play, food and recovery cocktails will be served and there will of course be tons of unique crazy beers from all the crazy breweries in town. Check for updates at this link.

Sunday , May 5^th it is the great philosopher Søren Kierkegaard’s 200th birthday. Or would have been – if he was  still alive, obviously. The birthday of the world’s first existentialist will be marked with lot of events around Copenhagen, the city that had such a great influence on his thinking.

At Mikkeller we believe Kierkegaard is the most important philosopher ever. And yes, we have read him.

But he’s not the only one who who will be celebrating a birthday on May 5^th.  The world’s first Mikkeller Bar in Viktoriagade turns three, and we’ll celebrate this with a big block party.

The entire street will be filled with happy people, music, food and sunshine.

Meson España will make delicious tapas, John from John’s Hot Dog Deli will pamper you with grilled meats, WOODAH HOSTEL makes vegetarian food, and Mikkeller Bar will of course serve all the beer you could wish for.

With Kirkegaard it is either or, at Mikkeller Bar you don’t have to choose. You can have it all.
